Parent and Carer Forum

We are inviting parents and carer of young people aged 20 or under Torbay and South Devon who have used our services to become involved in our first ever Parents and Carers Forum.

By becoming a member of our Parents and Carers Forum you will have an opportunity to help shape the way in which our services for children and young people are delivered and share your thoughts and ideas.

What is our Parent and Carer Forum?

  • a way for parents and carers of young people aged 20 or under in Torbay and South Devon to share their thoughts and experiences on key issues with us.
  • a way to share what matters to you and have your say on various topics, working together with your local NHS trust and Parental Minds to make change happen.
  • a way to share what can be done to better support children and young people’s health and wellbeing locally.

What we can offer

  • opportunities to give constructive feedback and share your views.
  • opportunities to influence decision making within your local NHS trust and see things change as a result of your feedback, ideas and opinions.

Parent and Carer Forum meetings

  • there will be four informal meetings over the year (three online and one in person).
  • the first meeting is online and will take place on Monday 3 June, 7.15pm – 8.45pm.

How do I know if my child or young person uses your services?

We provide a wide range of services for children and young people including:

  • Community child health clinics and outpatient services
  • Paediatric outpatient clinics
  • Childrens specialist community team
  • Child development centre (based in the John Parkes Unit)
  • Paediatric inpatient care (Louisa Cary Ward, Torbay Hospital)
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (delivered through Children and Family Health Devon)
  • Paediatric emergency department (based at Torbay Hospital)
  • Short stay paediatric assessment unit (based at Torbay Hospital)
